The 2021 Black ICE Judo Summer Camps are off to a great start! We trained hard and played harder. Here are some highlights:

Week 1

  • In addition to training judo twice a day, we:
  • Hosted a great fireworks display for the 4th of July,
  • Researched and then presented an oral presentation about the meaning of our names, and what they mean to us,
  • Participated in a Team Shark Tank exercise, working with our teammates to create a business idea and “sell” it to Sensei Josh for investment,
  • Spent an afternoon painting with artist Mike Davis,
  • Went to the community pool and had a fun pool party at Mr. Johnson’s house (including a cookout!),
  • Had a visit from Sensei Steve Alphabet, who showed us some magic and taught a valuable life lesson about listening,
  • Enjoyed movie nights with ice cream sundaes,
  • Challenged each other in relay races and a game of kickball,
  • Went to Blaze Pizza for a build-your-own pizza night,
  • Had a fun day at Dave and Busters playing games and hanging with the team.

Week 2

  • In addition to training judo twice a day, we:
  • Met with a financial planner to learn about saving, investing, and stocks & bonds (and went out for pizza),
  • Visited the Illuminarium – WILD: A Safari Experience,
  • Had Gelato at Ponce City Market,
  • Spent an afternoon painting with artist Mike Davis,
  • Cupcake decorating contest (and eating!) with Sweetest Surprises,
